SAN REMO
Beautifully set on the Italian Riviera, Sanremo has an enviable climate (nearly as good as the ideal Los Angeles one) , is a popular touristic destination already known by the Romans and imagine that its main economy is (well, actually was) growing and exporting flowers.
It is one of the 3 places in Italy that we chose to explore as to maybe settle down. We did visit an appartment, highest floor, incredible 360' view, as well as an inviting house with an agreable yard. The view all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, the mountains, the blue sky ... all was very nice except the tens of "eye sore" buildings built in the 50ˆs and up. It is not convincing to think we would have to contemplate those any direction we look unless we live higher on the hills meaning further away from the center which then means we would be too far to be able to take the bicyle or go on foot to the store.. Did I even mention the beaches ? Rocks and more rocks, with here and there some sand where all are together as sardines under umbrellas.
The conclusion is that this place is worth your time as a vacationer, even long vacations, bicycling, hiking, enjoying life with a view, but not to live the next 25 years. And off we go back by train southwards to Frascati.

Excellent idea, the city took out the railway and moved it a tiny bit inland so now Sanremo and the whole coastal area has this long bike lane.
Dogs rule !!!!!!!!

Villa Nobel.
Sanremo continues to maintain its ties with Nobel, long after his death. Every 10th of December, large quantities of flowers sent by the authorities in Sanremo (the province of Imperia, the city of Sanremo and the Board for Tourist Promotion of the Riviera dei fiori), adorn the annual Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and Banquet in Stockholm.
Et en francais :
