In english only : Some wisdom of Henry Miller

I'd like to share some phrases that I particularly liked in his book The Colossus of Maroussi.

Voyages are accomplished inwardly, and the most hazardous ones, needless to say, are made without moving from the spot.

There are experiences so wonderful, so unique, that the thought of prolonging them seems like the basest form of ingratitude.

Man doesn't begin to live through triumphing over his enemy nor does he begin to acquire health through endless cures.

As long as human beings can sit and watch with hands folded while their fellowmen are tortured and butchered, so long will civilization be a hollow mockery.

I could learn five new words in an evening and forget six or eight during my sleep.
